Football Combination |
![]() |
Formed in 1916 as the London Combination originally had a mixture of Football League club reserve teams and other clubs' first teams. The league became the sole preserve of reserve teams in 1919, and the name was changed to the Football Combination in 1926.
After the Premier League formed their own reserve league in 1999, the quality of teams in the Football Combination dropped, and then as Under 21 football began to take a higher profile at the expense of traditional reserve football, the league folded in 2012 just short of being able to celebrate its centenary.
